Yubo and Yoti Stand Hand-in-Hand to Protect Users
Yubo has made ripples in the social networking site market ever since it began attracting a large number of Generation Z members. No matter the medium, there will always be fraudsters who could try to enter a social media platform and take full advantage of its community. There may even be individuals who have bad intentions. Because of this, age verification technologies like Yubo’s have become crucial in the internet world.
Even while it has historically been difficult for social networks to ensure that younger users can communicate with their peers in a genuine and secure manner, Yubo is dedicated to addressing this issue. Yubo has always prioritized the security of its consumers. However, their latest innovative method of age verification sets a new benchmark for safeguarding online user communities.
The New Age Verification System on Yubo
Yubo deployed the new age verification method in collaboration with the reputable digital identity supplier Yoti. It is intended to simplify the age verification procedure for users wishing to use the Yubo platform, while at the same time protecting their privacy.
To utilize the Yubo application, users must snap a selfie. But this is no ordinary photograph. Instead of a simple photograph, users must upload a very short video of themselves. Yoti’s liveness algorithm examines the brief video to confirm that the picture was shot in real-time and was not edited or obtained online. The Yoti technology then analyzes the image and calculates the user’s age based on what it sees. The estimated age is then compared to the user’s age given upon account creation. If a match is found, the user’s age is verified. Alternatively, if the information does not match, individuals must take further steps to establish their age, which may involve uploading specific papers. Yoti, the industry leader in online privacy and security services, operates and manufactures this technology. The accuracy of the age estimate approach is 98.9%.
Initially, only 13- and 14-year-olds could use the tool to verify their age, but the eventual purpose of the platform was to verify the age of all users. The objective is for every Yubo user to be entirely secure. All IOS users have already been validated three months ahead of schedule, thanks to the quicker implementation of this new technology after a successful pilot trial. In the coming weeks, Android users, who make up around 10% of Yubo’s user base, will also be obliged to adopt age verification technologies.
Along with these enhanced layers of protection for consumers, Yubo ensured that there was still space to preserve users’ privacy. No personal documents, identification cards, or other private information are required since the whole procedure is based on an algorithm that examines an image. This only does not function when a user’s verification fails. In this situation, they would need to provide more evidence of their age.
From the beginning, Yubo’s objective has been to empower the future generation. The new age verification method on the site strengthens this objective. Yubo will continue to expand as a social media network since its expansion is based on a novel use of technology.
